🇺🇸 50 Years Ago Today 🇺🇸

On this day in 1970, the 2d Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) inactivated at Fort Benning, GA.

The battalion activated on 01 June 1966 as part of the 199th Infantry Brigade, also at Fort Benning. In those four years, the battalion earned 11 battle streamers during its deployment to Vietnam. Today we remember all those 2d Battalion Soldiers who lost their lives as a result of their service in Vietnam, and thank all those who served in the 2d Battalion.
