πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ On this Veterans Day 2020, we thank all those who served in The Old Guard, the US Army, and all branches of service.

Once again we are going back to the football games played by the Cockades after World War II.This game was against the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment “Red Devils” took place at Victory Stadium in Frankfurt, Germany, on November 11, 1945 at 1400 hrs. The Cockades won the game, 20-12.

On this day in 1965, SSG William R. Spates Jr. was killed in action while serving in Vietnam. SSG Spates was the first Tomb Sentinel to be killed in action.

On 20 February 1973, a dedication ceremony was held naming the Fort Myer NCO Club as “Spates Hall” in his memory. Below are photos from the dedication ceremony.
