As soldiers in The Old Guard adapted to occupation duty in post-war Germany, one activity they enjoyed to pass the time was the Army football league. The Old Guard fielded a team and had a very successful season.

This game was held at Olympic Stadium in Berlin against the 82d Airborne Division. The Old Guard won the game, 21-6.
