Flashback Friday – CCG & TUSAB 1951

This week’s #FlashbackFriday is from a 1951 Pentagon ceremony. Two key things to notice are the early uniforms of the Continental Color Guard and the bright yellow uniforms of the U.S. Army Band.

The color guard uniforms feature black wigs, buff facings (instead of the current red) and cocked hats with gold edging. The U.S. Army Band uniform, nicknamed the “Lion Tamer” uniform, was worn briefly in the early 1950s.
